Margaret Kenyatta was born to former Director Of State Controlled Kenya Railways Corporation Njuguna Gakuo.
Margaret went to the prestigious St. Andrews School in Molo and also an alumnus of Kianda School
Margaret met her husband Uhuru Kenyatta, who is her best friend in Mombasa and later on tied the knot at Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi in 1989.
According to her friends, Margaret Kenyatta is a noble and simple woman who loves keeping her life normal despite the fact that she is married to the son of the first President of Kenya who is now the President. On a normal day, Margaret would be seen enjoying a cup of coffee at social places in Nairobi.
Margaret Kenyatta is a mother of two sons namely, Jaba and Jomo and one daughter named Ngina.
Margaret Kenyatta is daughter to Dr. Ephantus Njuguna Gakuo former Director Of State Controlled Kenya Railways Corporation, graduated with a PhD in Economics from Frelberg University in Germany in 1960, he also taught for a year.
Njuguna Gakuo married a German wife Magdallena, who would give birth to Margaret Wanjiru Gakuo who married Uhuru Kenyatta.
Njuguna Gakuo died in August 2005, though he did not see his daughter rise to became Kenya’s third First Lady he did see his grandchildren Jaba, Jomo and Ngina grow up.
Margaret has one brother named Maina Gakuo.
