On September 28, 2016 – Renowned radio host Waweru Mburu who graced our radio every Monday with his controversial popular series ‘Yaliyotendeka’ dies at MP Shah Hospital on the evening of Wednesday, after a long battle with gastric cancer.It is said he had been flown to India for treatment but returned and was admitted at MP Shah Hospital.

Mburu, Head of Radio Citizen at Royal Media Services, is a veteran journalist who formerly taught Kiswahili before joining the media. Mburu had served Royal Media Services for many years and was among pioneers in radio commentary.

Waweru Mburu was probably the most controversial radio personality in Kenya when it comes to matters politics.The radio personality’s programme dealt with socio- and geo-political issues, and was popular across audiences. He has had run in with different people over his divergent views on how matters are run in the country.
Mburu had recently declared his bid to vie for Maragua Constituency MP seat.
